A study conducted by European Commission places the pharmaceutical industry among the six most competitive manufacturing sectors in the European Union. The study, which analyzes the EU’s economy from a sectoral perspective, examines the relative performance of each industry and explains the competitiveness of the EU economy.
The pharmaceutical industry and the five other leading manufacturing sectors, machinery and equipment, aircraft and spacecraft, non-metallic mineral products, printing and publishing, and scientific instruments, account for 34 percent of total manufacturing exports."
