Dairy products Epidemic in Lermotov and Kislovodsk in Russia

There was news about a serious stomach illness in the city of Lermotov, Russia. The Finnish broadcasting company YLE reported about 500 person with stomach illness. The cause is from local dairy products (milk products). The epidemic illness also moved to Kislovodsk.

Etelä-Venäjällä Kislovodskin ja Lermontovin kaupungeissa on liikkeellä suolistotulehdusepidemia. Stavropolin aluepiirissä sijaitsevassa Kislovodskin kaupungissa lähes 500 ihmistä on sairastunut. Sairaalahoitoon on joutunut yli 300, heistä 294 on lapsia.

Ruuan laadunvalvonnasta vastaavat viranomaiset kertovat epidemian levinneen yhdeksään lastentarhaan ja yhteen lukioon Kislovodskissa sekä viiteen lastentarhaan Lermontovissa.

Sairauden lähteeksi on suurimmassa osassa tapauksista pystytty todistamaan paikallisen tuotantolaitoksen maitotuotteet.

Tulehdusepidemia huomattiin Lermontovin kaupungissa 3. lokakuuta ja se levisi myöhemmin myös Kislovodskiin.

Kyseessä on neljäs laaja tulehdusepidemia Stavropolin aluepiirissä sitten kesäkuun. Ainakin kolme niistä johtui lastentarhoihin toimitetuista maitotuotteista. | Itar-Tass

Kislovodsk is a small town of about 160,000 in the North Caucasus region of Russia, which is located between Black and Caspian seas. Kislovodsk is best known for its unique walking trails and therapeutic "Narzan" mineral water. It is also renowned for crystal clean, dry air and plentiful sunlight all year round. Kislovodsk's national park is one of the biggest and most beautiful in the Caucasus. The park starts right in downtown and spreads all the way into the mountains. On a clear day, majestic snow-covered peaks of mount Elbrus can be seen on the horizon.
