We spent the past two and half week to study the Wood Working Industry at Ligna in Hanover and the economic and investment climate around the Baltic Sea.
One week at Ligna - and the rest of the time moving by car from one place to the other and staying only one day at a time in a specific area.
POLTAREX is a Polish woodworking company with a long tradition. The company
has been operating in the timber industry since 1975, initially as state-
owned enterprise and since September 30th 1994 as a limited liability
company.
Its activities include manufacture and sale of coniferous
and hardwood timber, as well as garden landscaping to domestic and
foreign markets.
The company owns 6 sawmills located in western part
of Pomorskie Voivodship. Their total annual input of logs is about 200 000
m3. 97% of the processed material is softwood whereas hardwood makes 3%
of it.
Each sawmill is equipped with drying chambers and, additionally, 3 of them have pressure treatment facilities. Among their Clients are big polish and foreign companies. Poltarex also complete orders from individual customers.
About
50% of the production is being exported. The company dispatches its goods
primarily to Germany, France and Japan. Poltarex main exported goods are
garden landscaping products and structural timber.
Long-standing
tradition, top level equipment and staff experience are the basis for
the high-quality of products and on time deliveries.
It is worth
mentioning that the wood processed by Poltarex company is certified by FSC
and NTR. The company is entitled to issue CE certificate for structural
timber. Moreover, they have been ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management System)
certified since 2003.
