Started residential buildings in China down 17.9% Building projects with a total area of 952 million m² were started in China during January - August (-16.8% compared to 2014). The figure for residential buildings was 658 million m² (-17.9%).

A total floor area of 697 million m² were sold in China during January - August (+7.2%). When we break down the numbers in detail it shows that the sold floor area of residential buildings during January - August was +8.0%, office buildings +8.5% and buildings for commercial business +1.2%. Sales in local currency (Yuan) of constructions increased by 15.3% during January - August.
The total floor space for sale increased by 18.1% to 663 million m² during January - August (compared to 2014). If we compare the floor space for sale during the first eight months of 2015 with the first seven months of 2015, the floor space for sale in August decreased marginally in August.
Despite the decline in started construction, there is still more buildings being started than sold. However, the difference in floor space of started and sold residential buildings is now clearly decreasing.
