Sales of Russian sawn softwood products to export markets demonstrate strong growth at the beginning of 2017.
Traditional seasonal decrease of shipments of sawn wood resulting from the long New Year holidays this year had a slight impact on the dynamics of export volumes.
In January-February 2017, the export volume of sawn softwood products from Russia amounted to 3.6 million m3 (+19% YoY) worth $448 million (+20% YoY).
Significant growth of sales was completely provided by the main consumer of Russian sawn softwood products — China, which in the two months of 2017 increased purchases from Russia by 41% to 2.1 million m3.
Thus, the share of China in the total sales amount of sawn softwood products from Russia amounted to 58%.
